Astros stay in National League least for one more season

According to the Mayans, that movie, countless bloggers, democrats, and mental patients, the world will come to an end in 2012. Yesterday MLB released its 2012 schedule just in case all of those people are wrong. The good news- Houston remains in the National League. The bad news- the Astros could be forced to the American League in 2013.

The Astros will open the season with a six game homestand against Colorado and Atlanta. Interleague opponents include Cleveland, Kansas City, and the White Sox. In September the Astros play 23 of their 27 games against N.L. Central opponents. The four non-divisionsl games are at home against the Phillies. The most exciting thing for me about the new schedule is the fact that the season ends on a Sunday. I don’t know what the schedule makers were thinking when they decided to end the season on a Wednesday this year.
