Star Performer of the Week 8/29 thru 9/4

The Astros started the week nicely with a three game sweep of the Pirates. But things turned south in a hurry when the Brewers came to town. J.A. Happ gets runner-up this week with a tremendous seven inning performance against Pittsburgh. Happ allowed only three hits and a walk while fanning six and picking up the win. The big lefty threw 71 of his 110 pitches for strikes. The most amazing stat of the game was the fact that no Pirates base runner reached second base.

This week’s Star Performer Award goes to Carlos Lee. El Caballo went 9 for 20, blasting a pair of homers and driving in six. Lee had two hits in each of the team’s wins over the Buccos. The Astros missed Lee’s bat in the lineup yesterday, getting shut out while the big guy was given the day off.
