Rockies complete sweep; Wandy staying with Astros

For the second day in a row the Colorado Rockies prevailed over the Astros in a see-saw battle. This time it took extra innings. Aneury Rodriguez (1-5) absorbed the loss when he uncorked a wild pitch that plated the winning run in the bottom of the tenth.

Wandy Rodriguez made what was probably the most unsettling start of his career. Having been claimed on waivers by the Rockies only 24 hours earlier, Wandy took the mound in an Astros uniform and had to be wondering if the batters he was facing would be his teammates tomorrow. The Rockies scored four runs in the first inning against Rodriguez while his head must have still been spinning with confusion. Rodriguez would get it together and stick around for six innings before exiting with the score tied at six. Brian Bogusevic remains the team’s hottest hitter. Bogey raked three more hits in the game.

The latest reports are saying that Rodriguez has been pulled back off waivers and the deal with the Rockies is now dead. If these reports are accurate, that means Wandy will finish the season with the Astros before any trade talks can be resumed. The Astros now travel to San Francisco to take on the Giants for four games. Henry Sosa gets the start tomorrow. Ryan Vogelsong takes the mound for the G-men.
